Symposium 2013

ABSTRACT BOOK

Welcome to the 7th Novo symposium 25.-26.11.2013 in Helsinki

Sustainable Health Care

Innovative health care organizations

Novo vision

The vision of the 7th NOVO-symposium is “a Nordic Model for sustainable systems in the health care sector”. The core idea of NOVO is that we want to link together development and research of the three aspects of NOVO-triangle: work environment, efficiency and quality of care.

Novo Symposium 2013

Nordic countries, as well as other countries are struggling with economy crisis and increasing costs of health and social care. New innovations are needed for more cost-effective services. Large organizational reforms have been done in most Nordic countries in order to increase efficiency, integration of care or quality of care. What is typical to all countries, too, is lack of personnel and severe problems in well-being of personnel. In major organizational changes worker well-being is not automatically improved, in many cases result is opposite. On the other hand lean management or process organizations are seen as answers. What is frequently typical to development is, that efficiency, quality of care and work environment are developed separately. NOVO sees it important to combine these aspects.

In the symposium we welcome researchers from Nordic countries to present their work. The disciplines and topic may be from a wide range. National Institute for Health and Welfare (THL) and Finnish Institute of Occupational Health (FIOH) are organizing the conference.

Topics of Novo 2013

  • Innovative health care
  • Major organizational changes
